As a wedding baker my job is to provide a beautiful cake or decadent sweets table for you and your guests to enjoy. I meet with my couples to discuss flavors and quantities to best suite their event. Often, my lovely couples are at a loss for what to choose. They know what they like, but they do not feel especially passionate about any one thing. Something I like to suggest is to tell their love story or their family story on their dessert table. It makes it more than just a food station, and it means a lot to their families and guests.
Incorporate Family Recipes
Many families have recipes that have been passed down from one generation to the next. Many of my couples have strong memories from their childhoods of a certain cookie or cake that was special to their family. I LOVE to try and recreate those desserts and it is a bonus if I am able to work off the original recipe.
I adore bringing special desserts from a family to my couple’s weddings. It is such an honor and so special to be able to bring these memories to life and give my couples and their families the chance to share with their loved ones.
Special Occasion Memories and Favorite Desserts
Is there a special dessert that was served the night you were engaged? The night you met? Did you take a vacation and eat something amazing on the beach? In Europe? I love to learn about all of the little moments that were accompanied by something sweet and figure out how to incorporate that into your wedding desserts.
One of my favorite things about the rise of the dessert buffet is that it allows a lot of variety at a wedding. You are not limited to a cake, you can have anything you want. Wedding desserts are an often-overlooked area where you can bring in family history and memories as a couple to share with your guests. I adore creating special desserts for my couple’s weddings. It is such an honor and so special to be able to bring these memories to life and give my couples and their families the chance to share with their loved ones.
